Spring Connections with Annette Lawrence
September 18 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$35
Build connections with local women who live & work in the Macleay.
After work nibbles and drinks are always a hot favourite with the network and we’re excited to share in the ambiance of the Hungry Puku at Frederickton for our next meeting. Tracy has been working on creating a welcoming space at her Fredo premises and we can’t wait to sample some more of her tasty treats! As well as the chance to connect with other local women and enjoy some time together, we’re excited to be welcoming local Councillor Annette Lawrence to our meeting to share her story with us.
ABOUT ANNETTE:
Kempsey Shire councillor Annette Lawrence has been named this year’s recipient of the esteemed Cr Pat Dixon Memorial Trust Scholarship. Hosted by Local Government NSW, Cr Lawrence was awarded the prestigious scholarship at Thursday’s Local Government Week Awards. The scholarship was established in memory of Cr Pat Dixon, a Dunghutti woman who became the first Aboriginal woman elected to local government in NSW.
As the first Dunghutti councillor to serve on Kempsey Shire Council, Cr Lawrence’s election marked a significant milestone for both her community and the broader movement toward First Nations representation in local government. “I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work and furthering my professional development in cultural studies. This scholarship will help empower me with tools and strategies to further support cultural competency across our council.”
